tortues marines méditerrannée

CESTMed, Center for Research and Conservation of Mediterranean Sea Turtles, is a non-profit association established in 2003 under the French Law of 1901 by Le Grau-du-Roi Seaquarium.

Since 18 June 2007, it has been officially recognized as a sea turtle rescue center, currently the only one on the French Mediterranean coast.

Its main functions are to take in, treat and research sea turtles recovered through the French Mediterranean Sea Turtle Network (RTMMF), which have been injured, stranded or accidentally caught in fishing nets.

Additionally, as members of the RTMMF network, CESTMed employees are authorized to release these animals into the sea as soon as their condition permits.
