As part of our partnership with the CEFE and the Gard (France 30) Departmental Veterinary Laboratory  for the creation of a European protocol on the ingestion of waste, we autopsied this Tuesday, February 16, 2016 a green turtle that had washed up dead on the Cape d’Agde Rochelongue beach November 20, 2015 .

The turtle weighed 12 kilos, the autopsy is not highlighted on his death. She was healthy and probably of drowning in a net. However many samples were collected and analyzed at the moment in the laboratory of the Veterinary Services of Gard.

The presence of green turtles on our Mediterranean coasts is really rare and we still wonder about their origin.
To recap, the CESTMed had recovered 2 green turtles were released into the sea at the end of 2014, you can read the article in question here .
